John C. Fox and Candee ChambersThe “OFCCP Week in Review” is a simple, fast and direct summary of relevant happenings in the OFCCP regulatory environment published every Monday. Here are this week’s developments:

October 19, 2015: OFCCP creates a new “Requesting a Reasonable Accommodation” pocket card. The pocket card is intended to help applicants and/or employees understand the process for requesting a reasonable accommodation. The card answers these four common questions about seeking a reasonable accommodation:

  • What is a reasonable accommodation?
  • How do I request a reasonable accommodation?
  • What do I need to tell my employer?
  • What happens after the request is made?

The pocket card is a part of OFCCP’s continuing outreach and education efforts to stakeholders regarding their rights under Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act.

October 24, 2015: Government Accountability Office (GAO) study on OFCCP is underway.  The GAO is interviewing federal contractors to gather their views on policies and processes being undertaken by the OFCCP. Many of the OFCCP’s initiatives in the past few years have been based on Executive Orders which the President has issued rather than going through the normal legislative process. It is thought many of the Executive Orders may not have been possible had they relied on Congressional support for the same result.

The GAO is seeking to determine how federal contractors view some of the recent policies now in place and may be contacting some of our Members for their input.
