In today’s edition of “Getting to Know“, we’re talking with our Board of Directors President and Senior Director of Talent Acquisition at Mohawk Industries, Paul White. Take it away, Paul!
Where is your office located?
Calhoun, GA
What does a day on the job look like for you?
No two days are ever the same, but that is one of the things I love about my job. Mohawk has an entrepreneurial culture focused on innovation and intelligent risk taking. I work closely with our HR Business Partners and Executives to identify our workforce needs, and then I partner with my staff to implement talent acquisition strategies focused on attracting the best and brightest talent in the marketplace.
What does your workspace look like?
How do you get your day started?
A cup of coffee and my Amazon Echo reading me top news stories from NPR, CNN and BBC America.
What is your favorite social media platform and why?
In the office I like LinkedIN because it is a great networking and information sharing tool. At home I enjoy keeping up with my family and friends on Facebook.
iPhone or Android – what kind of phone do you have?
iPhone, but I do miss the Motorola Razor.

What’s your favorite HR blog/resource?
Of course it is DirectEmployers’ OFCCP Week in Review.
What do you like to do for fun?
I like to travel, go boating and attend live theater and concert performances.
Do you listen to music while you work? If so, what do you listen to?
Yes, I like to stream Pandora. My favorite channels are Fun!, Fleetwood Mac, Glee Cast, Abba, Les Miserable, Sia, Cat Stevens and Waylon Jennings.
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
That my boss and executive team give me the autonomy I need to get things done without a lot of bureaucracy, and they support my team.
What tech gadgets can’t you live without?
I love my Amazon Echo, iPhone, Fire 10 tablet, arlo security system and Roku4.

Best job advice you ever received?
Get to know them and their needs. Earn their respect and lead by influence.
What is your non-HR dream job?
It’s a tie between VP of Marketing and Actor, but I can’t sing or act.
What’s your favorite thing about being a member of the DirectEmployers Board of Directors?
I could not be more proud of our current Board. We have an engaged group of folks with diverse backgrounds that share ideas and advice. They ask the right questions, and they have the best interest of the association in mind.
What is your favorite thing about attending DEAM?
I like networking with other Members. It is great opportunity to both share best practice and learn from others.
