As we wrap up another year at DirectEmployers, it’s time to reflect on the achievements and milestones of our Employee Resource Group (ERG). The fourth quarter of 2023 brought many exciting events and announcements, showcasing our commitment to diversity and inclusion. Let’s recap the highlights of the final quarter, take a year-in-review snapshot, and unveil our ambitious expansion plans for the ERG in 2024.

Quarter 4 Recap:

Fun and Engaging Jeopardy Game:

  • In the spirit of celebrating Hispanic and Latin America Heritage Month, our fourth quarter ERG meeting was nothing short of engaging and entertaining. Our dynamic host led a virtual game of Jeopardy, testing our knowledge of Hispanic and Latin American culture, history, and achievements. It was a fantastic way to learn and celebrate together.

ERG Expansion Announcement:

  • During our November meeting, we shared the exciting news of our expansion plan for 2024. This announcement was met with enthusiasm and anticipation, setting the stage for an even more inclusive and impactful year ahead.

Hybrid Holiday Happy Hour:

  • We organized a hybrid Holiday Happy Hour event to round off the year on a festive note. This event allowed participants to choose between an in-person gathering and a virtual celebration. Those who joined virtually received a special treat—a gift card to purchase their favorite holiday beverage, spreading cheer to all corners of our organization.

Year-in-Review Snapshot:

Before we delve into our ambitious plans for 2024, let’s take a moment to celebrate our achievements throughout 2023:

Employee Participation: We achieved an impressive 38% employee participation rate throughout the year, demonstrating the growing interest and commitment to our ERG’s initiatives.

Meeting Participation: Our average meeting participation rate stood at 60.3%. This high level of engagement signifies the active involvement of our members in the ERG’s activities.

Exceeding Participation Goals: Perhaps the most gratifying achievement of the year was surpassing our participation goal by a remarkable 18%. This shows that our ERG is making a meaningful impact and resonating with our colleagues across the organization.

2024 Expansion Plan:

Looking ahead to 2024, we are excited to announce the expansion of our ERG with the introduction of six new subgroups. These subgroups are designed to offer a more targeted approach, enhance understanding, foster deeper connections, and drive initiatives with an amplified impact. Here’s a glimpse of the new subgroups and their dedicated leaders:

Faith in Action: Led by Deanna Cross

  • This subgroup aims to promote religious inclusivity and understanding within our workplace.

Women: Led by Kim Lott and Yahaira Battiata

  • Focusing on gender diversity and equality, this subgroup will empower and uplift women within our organization.

Disabilities: Led by Christa Martin

  • Advocating for accessibility and inclusivity, this subgroup will work to break down barriers for employees with disabilities.

Mental Health & Invisible Illnesses: Led by Mikey Meagher and Ruth Toombs

  • Promoting mental health awareness and support, this subgroup will ensure that no one faces their battles alone.

Veteran & Military Families: Led by Mike Witt and Ralph DiBenedetto

  • This subgroup will provide resources and support to our employees who have served in the military and their families.

Caregiver Support: Led by Candee Chambers

  • Recognizing caregivers’ challenges, this subgroup will offer assistance and resources to those caring for loved ones.

As we bid farewell to 2023 and set our sights on 2024, the DirectEmployers ERG is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace for all. With the expansion of our subgroups, we are taking concrete steps toward a more diverse and compassionate organization. We look forward to another year of growth, learning, and collaboration as we continue to stand behind diversity and inclusion at DirectEmployers.
