INDIANAPOLIS, April 24, 2014 –– The National Labor Exchange (NLx) was named the provider of job content to the newly enhanced Veterans Job Bank found on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs eBenefits platform. A public-private partnership between DirectEmployers Association and its longtime partner the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA), the NLx includes 1.5 million opportunities found on employers’ career sites, state job banks and federal government job portals.

First Lady Michelle Obama announced the new Veterans Employment Center and its enhanced resources for military personnel during a special veterans’ jobs summit, organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the Pentagon, Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Labor at Fort Campbell, Ky.

“Since its inception, the goal of the National Labor Exchange has been to create greater efficiency in the labor market. Through this opportunity, we’re able to do just that, with the added bonus of streamlining the connection between veteran job seekers and employers on a platform that is already used by transitioning service members,” commented Bill Warren, Executive Director, DirectEmployers Association.

As more than 1 million service members are projected to leave the military over the next years, DirectEmployers, NASWA and the Department of Veterans Affairs will continue to collaborate in hopes of reducing the nation’s high veteran unemployment rate, while bringing together resources from both the public and private sector to achieve this goal.
