Did you know October 24 is Make a Difference Day? Giving back to the community is important to the Association, and recently several staff members from DirectEmployers took a day to volunteer and give back by caulking, painting and tearing down an old barn for a dear woman in the Indianapolis community.
The woman, Dorothea, just returned from a long rehabilitation stay in a nursing home to find her residence in desperate need of repair. Fortunately she was a recipient of help from Habitat for Humanity, and received assistance from volunteers who could fix these issues that were difficult for her to complete.
Despite giving the time, our team felt as though they received far more out of the experience because of Dorothea’s appreciative smiles and heartfelt thankfulness, partially captured with other highlights from the day in this video:
Despite the volunteers coming from different departments at DirectEmployers, we all worked closely side by side on this project. It was a great opportunity to learn some new skills and work with fellow staff in a different setting. Take a look at our visual recap or Flickr album of the Habitat for Humanity Project.
