More than 100 wounded veterans and family members recently networked with representatives from nearly 20 companies at a virtual job fair.

Organized by Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) and DirectEmployers Association, the event resulted in 150 online chats between warriors, family members, and company representatives. Several brands attended, including DuPont™, Humana, Camping World, and HSBC North America. The event was the first of its kind for WWP.

Although he recognizes the benefits of meeting employers in person, he also experienced the advantages a virtual job fair provides.

“This was definitely worth attending,” Brock said. “I visited a couple of the companies’ career pages during the event, and there was a unique benefit to seeing what other attendees were discussing and asking the representatives. That is something different that technology brings into the job search.”

To continue enabling these connections, WWP and DirectEmployers have committed to holding similar events in the future.

“We’re proud to help America’s wounded veterans and their families connect with employers through our online platform,” said Shannon Offord, vice president of strategic partnerships & alliances at DirectEmployers. “With veteran unemployment at an all-time low, our goal is to prevent underemployment by helping veterans find jobs that match their skills, strengths, and career ambitions. Through events like these, attendees can start life-altering conversations that open the door to entering talent pipelines of these prestigious companies.”
