Over the past six months, our Employee Resource Group (ERG) has been on an incredible journey, fostering a culture of inclusivity and engagement within our company. With a remarkable 50% or more participation in each meeting, we have become a thriving community that celebrates diversity, educates, and supports one another. In this blog post, we will reflect on some of our significant accomplishments and moments of growth, highlighting our commitment to embracing and empowering all voices.

Achieving Remarkable Participation

One of our proudest achievements has been the consistent high participation rate of 50% or more in our ERG meetings. This demonstrates the genuine interest and dedication of our employees in fostering an inclusive workplace. It reflects our collective desire to learn, connect, and contribute to creating a more diverse and welcoming environment.

Driving Company-Wide Engagement

Our ERG has also played a pivotal role in promoting diversity and inclusion across our organization. With a company-wide participation rate of 32%, we have successfully engaged a significant portion of our workforce. This shows that our efforts are resonating and that our message of inclusivity is reaching beyond our immediate ERG members.

Supporting Local Black-Owned Business

We believe in putting our values into action, and one of the ways we did that was by supporting a locally black-owned business. In a powerful gesture of solidarity and support, the ERG organized its first in-person breakfast meeting on March 28, 2023, at Tea’s Me, owned by community advocate Tamika Catchings, 4x Olympic Gold Medalist, Hall of Famer, and founder of the Catch the Stars Foundation. Doing so strengthened our ties with one another and the community, demonstrating our commitment to supporting underrepresented entrepreneurs and fostering economic empowerment.

Empowering Education and Awareness

Education is key to fostering a more inclusive society, and our ERG has taken steps to provide educational opportunities for its participants. On May 23, 2023, we invited a guest speaker Taj Smith to share insights and knowledge on transgender rights, creating a safe space for dialogue and understanding. This session helped to deepen our understanding of the unique challenges faced by the transgender community and encouraged empathy and support within our organization.

As we reflect on the last six months of our ERG journey, it’s evident that we have made significant strides in building an inclusive and supportive workplace. With remarkable participation rates, company-wide engagement, support for local black-owned businesses, and educational initiatives, we are creating a culture where everyone feels valued and respected. Our ERG serves as a testament to the power of diversity and the positive impact it can have on individuals and organizations as a whole. Moving forward, we will continue to champion inclusivity, embrace diversity, and empower one another, knowing that our collective efforts are instrumental in creating a more equitable future.
