Raised Money for Nonprofits Near to Our Hearts
As part of our internal Employee Engagement Incentive Program, we often include opportunities to give back. This summer, employees had the option to donate to various nonprofits and in return for each donation made, DirectEmployers would match $25 to be donated to Wounded Warrior Project, not only one of our partners but an amazing organization empowering veterans with disabilities. In the end, our staffers donated a total of $770 dollars to nonprofits of choice, resulting in a $450 donation to Wounded Warrior Project on behalf of DirectEmployers Association!
Attended Dozens of Industry Events
Each year, we sponsor, attend, exhibit, and speak at a variety of industry events. This allows us ample time to share our expertise, expand our brand awareness, and have invaluable facetime with our Members, prospective Members, and partners. This year, our roadshow took us across the country – to 24 different events, in fact! From the National Industry Liaison Conference in Phoenix to the NASWA Veterans Conference in Washington, D.C., we certainly made lasting memories and connections, and can’t wait to see everyone in the conference circuit in 2024!
Participated in a Leadership Retreat & Visited Workforce Offices in Puerto Rico
In late Spring, our Operations Team had the opportunity to attend a private leadership retreat in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Along with team building, workshopping, and a little fun, they also had the chance to visit a local American Job Center, as well as the Department of Labor and Human Resources office during their stay to discuss the new job bank we are now hosting for the territory. What a great week, filled with productive conversations and growth!
Held a Staff Outing at an Indianapolis Indians Game
In late summer, we held our annual staff outing at Victory Field for an Indianapolis Indians baseball game. Here our DirectEmployers, Recruit Rooster, and RocketBuild teams get to enjoy delicious food, sports, and conversation. With our staff working mostly remote, it’s not often we can all be together, so we highly value this time!
Sponsored Dining in the Dark
Each year, our partner Bosma Enterprises’ Visionary Opportunities Foundation hosts Dining in the Dark at the JW Marriott hotel in downtown Indianapolis. During this event, attendees eat a plated dinner in the dark, while also wearing blindfolds, to simulate the experience of individuals who are blind or visually impaired. We are honored to sponsor this fundraising event and do our part to help raise money for those in need of Bosma’s invaluable services. It’s always a wonderful and enlightening time!
Volunteered at Gleaner’s Food Bank of Indiana
One of our staffers’ favorite employee engagement activities of the year is volunteering at our local food bank. This year, we offered various days and times in the month of October, to give our staffers even more flexibility. During one four-hour shift working directly with families in the food pantry, our team served more than 400 families, and our second shift of staffers helped provide 4,560 meals to the community. Great work, everyone!
Hosted the 2023 Member Appreciation Celebration
Each November we say thanks to our Members through our Member Appreciation program, featuring 20 days of daily prize drawings, and one sweet gift at the end for everyone. This year, we had 238 participants, many of whom won prizes ranging from Starbucks and Amazon gift cards to Theragun Minis and Solo Stoves. To show our sweet appreciation, our final gift was a SugarWish, a personally customized box of candy and snacks. We can’t wait to show our appreciation again next year!
Celebrated 100+ episodes of DE Under 3
Along with our OFCCP Week in Review blog post that is published each Monday, our compliance experts also record DE Under 3 – a short video where they delve into one important story from the week with additional commentary and details. In November, we were thrilled to record our 100th episode! Keep an eye on our social channels for weekly publishing or view all the episodes here.
Hosted a Staff Holiday Party at Our Indianapolis Office
Who doesn’t love a party? We love celebrating the holidays with a gathering of fun at our headquarters in Indianapolis, and this year we had a few special guests – our Board of Directors! With lots of delicious food, cookie decorating and ugly sweater contests, and prizes, it’s a great time had by all. Always with a heart for giving, we also asked staffers to donate items to be used to create homeless care kits, which were put together during the holiday party, and given to a local shelter following the party.
