The Indianapolis-based, nonprofit association of employers partners with local California EDD to bring its connections of more than 660+ Members to San Diego to foster communication and build relationships between employers and veteran job seekers.
INDIANAPOLIS, September 9 — Dedicated to extending veteran outreach beyond listing open jobs on the internet, DirectEmployers Association, with the support of the local California Employment Development Department (EDD), is kicking off their 2013 Annual Meeting and Conference in San Diego, California with an onsite career fair to connect employers with veterans, transitioning military servicemembers and their families.
“The EDD in San Diego is proud to support the Veterans Connect Career Fair and the opportunity it provides transitioning military personnel, veterans and their families to meet face-to-face with employers. Mark your calendars!” stated Dennis Petrie, Deputy Director, EDD.
Each year, veterans and military servicemembers struggle to find employment opportunities that align with their valuable skills and experience. In addition, employers often are challenged with translating military skills into the civilian workplace despite the desire to improve veteran outreach and hiring. To help connect both parties, DirectEmployers will utilize the strong military presence in the San Diego community to hold it’s first Veterans Connect Career Fair at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort on Monday, October 21, 2013 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm PST. This event will feature employers including Amgen, Carilion Clinic, Hilton Worldwide, KPMG, Life Technologies, Lockheed Martin, Providence Health & Services, Trident University, UnitedHealth Group, Volt, and numerous other employers currently hiring on a national level.
To ensure that veteran attendees see maximum benefit from this event, DirectEmployers is seeking additional employers who may be interested in participating. In addition to the career fair, registration fees include two complimentary registrations for the two and a half day conference that follows, focusing on HR recruitment and OFCCP compliance. Employers interested in participating in this event should register on or before Friday, September 13, 2013 by visiting http://vetconnect.directemployers.org/employers.
