Indianapolis, IN, February 19, 2002 – E-Recruiting Association, a non-profit organization formed by executives from a powerhouse group of corporations to confront the latest challenges in corporate recruiting, today announced the launch of DirectEmployers.com, the Internet’s first cooperative, employer-owned search engine dedicated exclusively to employment.
DirectEmployers.com offers services that will change online recruiting from a job and resume-posting model to an interactive relationship model. The result, in addition to convenience, personal privacy and confidentiality, is the opportunity for employers and job seekers to exchange information and establish ongoing relationships.
In addition to the employment search engine, the website includes outplacement and career transition services, and company-to-company networking capabilities among corporate human resource offices.
E-Recruiting Association’s initial corporate charter member companies include an impressive group of industry leaders. The membership is comprised of representatives from Abbott Laboratories (NYSE: ABT), Analysts International (Nasdaq: ANLY), Alltel Corporation (NYSE: AT), Bank One (NYSE: ONE), Boston Scientific Corporation (NYSE: BSX), Cingular Wireless, Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ), GE (NYSE: GE), Hall Kinion (Nasdaq: HAKI), H&R Block (NYSE: HRB), IBM (NYSE: IBM), Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC), Kindred Healthcare (Nasdaq: KIND), Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), Mutual of Omaha (NYSE: MUO), Nestle USA, Inc. (OTC: NSRGY), Raytheon (NYSE: RTN), SAP America, Inc. (NYSE: SAP), Sprint (NYSE: FON), Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS), Volt Information Sciences, Inc. (NYSE: VOL), and Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX). Membership in E-Recruiting Association is open to all employers and professional recruiters.
According to Pam Dixon, noted journalist and Internet recruiting author, “As a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing jobseekers and companies together in a streamlined way, DirectEmployers stands to change online recruiting from what has become a commercially-oriented, sometimes problematic process to a new, jobseeker friendly, relationship-based model that is a win-win for both jobseekers and employers. Its new approach moves the industry toward its next evolutionary step, which is very positive.”
The Association has contracted Bill Warren, widely recognized as the founder of online recruiting, as executive director to manage program development and daily operations. Mr. Warren was the founder of Online Career Center – the Internet’s first career site – and former president of Monster.com.
“The turbulent market, escalating costs, and the ever-changing face of electronic recruiting led a group of leading corporations to examine the potential of a new type of Internet search engine,” says Bill Warren, executive director of DirectEmployers.com. “DirectEmployers.com truly meets the needs of job seekers and employers alike.”
“Every business wants to attract and retain the best and brightest talent for each of their positions,” says Dan Guaglianone, vice president of global recruiting for Unisys. “With DirectEmployers.com, we believe that we have developed the most effective way for jobseekers to connect directly with prominent industry leaders.”
