Compliance News by DirectEmployersBeginning today, August 1, 2025, the VETS-4212 Portal is now open for applicable federal contractors to submit their annual VETS-4212 Reports. This requirement, set forth by the U.S. Department of Labor and Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS), is for federal contractors and subcontractors that meet the VEVRAA threshold of having 50 or more employees and have at least one federal contract of $150,000 or more.

The VETS-4212 Report requires these contractors to disclose their affirmative action efforts in employing veterans through a breakdown of their workforce based on protected veteran status. According to the VETS-4212 Portal, reports must be submitted by September 30, 2025. While physical, paper reports can be mailed, the Department of Labor recommends using the online portal for ease of use and tracking efforts.

Don’t Wait Until the Last Minute

With the September 30th deadline approaching quickly, federal contractors should prioritize VETS-4212 compliance now. The two-month reporting window may seem generous, but data collection, validation, and submission can be more time-consuming than anticipated, especially for organizations with multiple locations or complex organizational structures.

The VETS-4212 report represents more than a compliance obligation. It’s an opportunity to assess your organization’s commitment to veteran employment and identify areas for improvement in your diversity and inclusion efforts.
