In case you missed it, last week we kicked off part one of our 2020 recap series by highlighting a number of exciting accomplishments, product launches, acquisitions, networking events and more. Today we’re wrapping things up and dishing out even more greatness! Take a look at these exciting things that happened in 2020, because even in times of uncertainty, the good is there–you just have to look for it!

Kicked Off the 2020 DE Member Challenge

We believe an Association is only as strong as its Members and the more they engage, the more everyone will learn and grow. Not to mention, we think our Members are STRONG…like superhero strong! This year’s Member Challenge took on a superhero theme and asked Members to complete one simple engagement task each day for a month-and-a-half. At the end of the challenge, the top three people with the most points won! Congratulations to this year’s winners: Brian Pier (Levi, Ray & Shoup, Inc.), Erin Franklin (Carollo Engineers), and Yasmin Alberto (Broadridge Financial Solutions)!

Hosted a Series of D&I Roundtable Discussions

Diversity & Inclusion was a hot topic this year and we knew our Members had not only questions, but also great ideas to share with their fellow HR practitioners. To allow them a place to speak openly with one another on the topic, we hosted two D&I roundtable discussions, which are available for playback here and here.

Celebrated One Year of Taapestry

In September of 2019, we launched our very own, in-house Affirmative Action & EEO provider, Taapestry. This year, we celebrated one year of operation and a growing list of clients–yet another thing to be thankful for in 2020! Happy Birthday, Taapestry–here’s to many more!

Launched a Revamped Mentorship Program

Offering even greater value to your membership, we were excited to launch our new and improved Mentorship Program! This program is designed to formalize relationships between senior HR professionals and fresh faces on the HR scene looking to gain additional skills to further their career. Launched DE Lite

Our Members love us for the many benefits of membership, but what about those who only have a small number of jobs and can’t justify the spend? To accommodate businesses of all sizes and needs, we introduced DE Lite–the superior VEVRAA compliance and job syndication solution synonymous with DirectEmployers’ Membership, pared down to meet smaller budgets while providing the same profound impact. Learn more about DE Lite and reach out to chat with our team of experts to see if DE Lite may be right for you.

Launched 2020 HR State of the Industry White Paper with Adzuna

We love providing employers with valuable products and services, but we also believe in collaboration and doing our part to further the human resources industry as a whole. This year we teamed up with our friends at Adzuna to conduct a study on both employers and job seekers to get an idea of the state of the workforce in 2020. The results were interesting to say the least, and in some categories, not what you would expect! Members can view the white paper in DE Connect, and non-Members can request a copy.

Hosted Member Appreciation Week

Each fall we host Member Appreciation Week, a week filled with gifts, discounts, contests, giveaways and chances to win fun prizes! Carrying on our superhero theme from the DE Member Challenge, we sent Members a goodie package filled with DE-branded items that are essential during a pandemic, and they did not disappoint!

Co-hosted Digital Conference with TAtech

As the year began to wind down, we ramped up our elearning opportunities by partnering with our friends at TAtech to host a joint digital conference, Strategic Conversations About Talent Acquisition: How Must the Funnel Change? This two-day conference featured four sessions per day led by one HR practitioner and one service provider who kicked off the conversation for the first 20-30 minutes, and then opened the floor to all attendees to ask questions and add their thoughts. When you have time, we encourage you to watch the session recordings, as so many great conversations were had. Thank you to all who participated!

The submitted video was created on behalf of client Frontdoor and featured the interview process and first day on the job. View the winning submission to see for yourself why it is deserving of gold!

Honored a New Set of DE Member Award Winners

Glenn Williams of Qualcomm holding his 2020 Breakthrough Award.

Each year we honor individuals for their contributions to diversity and inclusion, OFCCP compliance, and affirmative action, and the human resources profession as a whole via the DirectEmployers Member Awards. Earlier this year we opened a submission period for Members to nominate themselves or a peer, and then our awards committee chose winners. There were so many great submissions–it was a tough call! This year’s winners include:

  • Diversity & Inclusion Award: Franklin Reed, TEKsystems
  • Jennifer Seda Award: Susan Shanklin, Collins Aerospace
  • Breakthrough Award: Glenn Williams, Qualcomm

In addition, we hosted 25 webinars with over 2,200 attendees, conducted six surveys on behalf of Members with nearly 400 responses that helped shape their initiatives and best practices, and hosted three online career fairs in partnership with Wounded Warrior Project, resulting in 497 conversations between job seekers and employers!

As you can see, we have so much to be thankful for this year. Thank you to our staff, Members, partners, and industry friends for making it another great year. We can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish next year and put the pandemic behind us!
