Last year, DirectEmployers Association (DE) partnered with the U.S. Department of Labor and a number of other organizations to participate in the Summer Jobs+ program. Commissioned by the Obama Administration, this initiative helped to promote job opportunities and offer career path assistance for young Americans. This year, Obama has proposed a new plan to help provide jobs for our youth and reduce poverty and violence. This plan is known as Youth Jobs+, and we are honored to be a partner again this year.

Through our partnership with the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA), we are honored that the flagship service of our partnership, the National Labor Exchange (NLX), will provide job syndication to the Youth Jobs+ online resources where job seekers can find open positions through simple keyword search. Young adults looking for employment can visit Youth.jobs, Summer.jobs, or Internships.jobs, all of which are hosted by DirectEmployers and powered by the NLX. In addition, this means that all pertinent positions from DE Member companies are syndicated and incorporated in this initiative.

While providing job opportunities is just one part of the Youth Jobs+ initiative, other partners have pledged to offer career development services such as workshops, job shadowing, tutoring, mentoring and educational and vocational training to foster a brighter future for underprivileged youth. Member companies interested in participating in this initiative can download the Employer Toolkit and Financial Literacy Toolkit for more information.
