Under our Hunt’s Heroes division and as a Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program provider, we offer a number of hiring and mentoring programs that employ Veterans and transitioning soldiers, as well as military spouses.
Our most well-known programs fall under our J. B. Hunt National Apprenticeship Program – the Hunt’s Heroes CDL-A Hiring Program and Military Finisher Program. The first caters to Veterans across all MOS codes who are interested in pursuing professional driving as their civilian career, while the latter is a fast track program for those who have experience driving heavy equipment during their service time.
Through the CDL-A and Military Finisher programs, Veterans are paid a stable income while they complete orientation, driving school, and behind-the-wheel training. They assume their responsibilities at either a local (home daily) or regional (home weekly) Dedicated Contract Services or Intermodal fleet. As a participant in our 12-month J. B. Hunt National Apprenticeship Program, one may also be eligible to receive a GI Bill Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) payment from the VA in addition to his or her paycheck.
Our Military Spouse Hiring Program is designed to hire a Hunt’s Heroes professional driver’s spouse OR an active duty military spouse. The program involves a normal interviewing process and allows the spouse to work from home, base or any convenient location.
Lastly, J.B. Hunt offers a Maintenance Hiring Program where Veterans are trained under a certified professional trainer. They will receive on-the-job instruction and training, certification and full-time employment.
