SHRM Launches Diversity Jobs Sites
Encouraging diversity and inclusion in the workplace starts at the top, which is why the largest HR association in the world—the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)—announces the launch of three specialty websites within its online career center focused on creating an inclusive workforce and setting an example for other employers. Built on the SHRM Enterprise Solutions platform with technology provided by DirectEmployers Association, the new SHRM careers sites are SHRM-Veterans.jobs, SHRM-Disability.jobs and SHRM-Diversity.jobs.

Partnership with Employ Media to Develop .JOBS
In October of 2009, DirectEmployers Association, in alliance with Employ Media, built out a beta site of location, occupation, and other top-level domains to test functionality and receive feedback from job seekers, employers, and other interested parties. The .JOBS Network created an environment of seamlessly integrated employment domains, a first ever interlinking and coordinated use of a TLD for the public good.
Introduction of VetCentral
July 2007 marked the beginning of VetCentral–the consumer-facing vehicle of the NLx. It became the full-time employment service to participating state workforce agencies and, to date, delivers federal contractors’ jobs to state websites and CareerOneStop centers for the appropriate Local Veterans Employment Representatives (LVERs) and Disabled Veterans Outreach Programs (DVOPs).

In April of 2007, the NLx—a sophisticated electronic labor exchange solution—was created. The online network connects businesses and state workforce agencies in their mission to create a cost-effective system that improves labor market efficiency and reflects our nation’s diverse workforce.

Selection of Bill Warren to be Executive Director
As a highly respected industry veteran and former corporate human resources executive for Rockwell International, Bill Warren is widely credited as being the “Founder of Online Recruiting.” As a visionary leader in this recruitment space, Bill was a natural selection to manage the Association as its Executive Director. For more information, view the official press release.
Incorporation of DirectEmployers Association
Concerned about rapidly rising costs and the future and direction of online recruitment, a group of 14 leading global employers discussed the concept of DirectEmployers Association and an employer-owned and -managed employment site in late 2000. The concept came to fruition in October 2001 when DirectEmployers Association, a nonprofit HR consortium of employers, was incorporated. A directive was initiated to share best practices, create new industry standards, provide research and develop and manage Internet-based systems and software for employers to increase efficiency and reduce recruiting costs.
Creation of Online Career Center
Created in 1992 by former Executive Director, Bill Warren, Online Career Center (OCC) is widely recognized as the first internet job board. Through this tool, job seekers could connect with employers and view job listings on their computer. This product, revolutionary in its time, paved the way for today’s online job boards and the like.
